17 July is the date of the Township Ministry Workshop, to be held in Johannesburg at the premises of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Download a flyer for further details.
The same workshop will be held in Cape Town on 19 July at Goodwood Baptist Church.
Who should come?
This is a conference designed chiefly for pastors, elders, Bible college students and church planters. It will be especially useful for those men whose churches are located in “township” areas, but it is also for the churches in the suburbs. Women are also welcome to attend: There will be a session on discipling women and a special breakout session with Sharon Dickens, the 20schemes Women’s Ministry Director.
Why should I come?
There are indeed many conferences running during this part of the year. Naturally, this brings a measure of conference fatigue to us all. But the Township Ministry Workshop is unique for at least two reasons:
- the aim is to help us think about ministering to large parts of our society that is sadly neglected; and
- 20schemes is proving to be leading voice in how to think biblically about mercy ministry and church planting in poor communities. This is clear from excellent book, Church in Hard Places, co-authored by Mez McConnell, as well as strong ministry endorsements from Mark Dever, Mike, McKinley, andThabiti Anyabwile.
RSVP
Payment can be made at the door, on the day, but please RSVP by 11 July for catering purposes. We need:
- your name;
- the city of workshop you intend to attend (Johannesburg or Cape Town); and
- the number of people attending.
