I greet you all in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Family Update
Winter is in full swing here in Johannesburg. The temperatures are very low, but we thank the Lord for the warmth of blankets and heaters. These are mercies we often take for granted, but we shouldn’t.
I am thankful for my family and how the Lord is keeping us and helping the little ones settle into their daily routines. Both children are now sleeping through the night consistently, except for one or two nights a week due to teething. Milani is teething at the moment—she’s so adorable! And praise God we were able to visit a paediatrician recently. We were told not to worry too much about the apparent flat area on her head, as it’s common at this stage, especially in babies who sleep on their backs. The doctor reassured us that her head is growing normally and that as her brain develops, her head will grow proportionally. We also did an X-ray, and everything appears fine. We will return next month for a follow-up, but this was encouraging news. Thank you so much for your prayers. Please continue praying that, in all things, we may trust the Lord.
Nicole and I have also been reading The Life and Diary of David Brainerd, compiled by Jonathan Edwards. We’ve been encouraged by Brainerd’s walk with the Lord. His sincere devotion and perseverance through suffering offer a worthy example for us all. He is one of the saints I look forward to meeting in glory.
Ministry Update
Recently, we welcomed thirteen new members into our church. It was such a joy to hear their testimonies of how the Lord saved them. We also had the privilege of baptising eight believers. They publicly professed their faith in Christ through the waters of baptism. It was a joy to witness God’s saving grace in action, clearly dramatised before our eyes. Please continue to pray for these precious souls.
I also recently preached on God’s irresistible grace. I continue to feel my need for the Lord’s help in my preaching. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will grant clarity in my preaching, and that he will empower me with ministerial grace and gifts. Pray that hearts will melt at the proclamation of this glorious truth, and that God’s grace will be exalted and cherished by those who believe.
Also, please pray against the temptation to laziness during this cold season. Winter tends to keep people in bed on Sunday mornings, not usually due to circumstances beyond their control, but simply out of love for comfort. This is sad, but real. Please pray that our people will resist the temptation to neglect the gathering of the saints, and instead prioritise worship and fellowship, especially as the Day draws near.
We appreciate your prayers. Continue to pray earnestly for us. Our need for the Lord in this work is great.
Regards,
Siya
