Central Baptist Church is a community in Rustenburg, in the North-West Province of South Africa, which seeks the glory of God, the growth of believers, the establishment of Christ’s church, and the salvation of the lost. At CBC, you will find a body of people who are far from perfect—but who will point you to the one who is.

Rustenburg is one of fastest growing cities in South Africa, located at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range. The scene around Rustenburg will bring you into a beautiful place with lots of history and tourist attractions.

At CBC, we are committed to the Bible as God’s inerrant and infallible word—our final authority for all matters of faith and practice. We believe that the faithful preaching and teaching of the Bible is essential to growth in the Christian life.

We are a largely Reformed church, committed to the historic doctrines of grace, which emphasise the biblical truth of God’s absolute sovereignty in salvation, and the five solas of the Protestant Reformation. We believe that salvation is by grace alone (sola gratia), through faith alone (sola fide), in Christ alone (solus Christus), according to Scripture alone (sola Scriptura), to the glory of God alone (soli Deo gloria).

We are committed to the Great Commission, seeking to faithfully do the work of evangelism in our community and praying for and supporting missionaries across the world.

We are committed to Christian fellowship. We seek to foster real Christian fellowship, mutual concern, and love in the life of the congregation. We desire to be what God calls his people to be: a family—naturally and practically caring for one another. Our goal is to be a loving community of believers in Christ, truly committed to one another.

Church History

In 1997, Dan Crichton joined Brackenhurst Baptist Church as a missionary-pastor and served on that pastoral staff for two years until the Lord led him, in 1999, to move with his family to Rustenburg to plant a new Baptist Church. In 2006 Dan was called back to the United States to take up the pastorate of his sending church, the Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple.

Chris Lee, another American missionary, was called to replace Dan at Central Baptist and served until March 2011.

Michael Horne joined CBC in January 2011 after finishing his theological studies at George Whitefield Bible College in Cape Town. Michael took over the vocational ministry at CBC following the return of Chris to the United States. Michael finished as vocational pastor at the end of September 2016.

In July 2017, Karabo Msiza started at CBC as fulltime pastor. Karabo graduated with a Bachelor of Theology at Christ Baptist Seminary Polokwane (2014), and was the associate pastor of Modimolle Christian Church in Modimolle from January 2013 to May 2017 until he accepted the call to be fulltime pastor of CBC. He is married to Nkhensani (Khensi).
