Where He Leads, We Will Follow
Greetings brethren,
I trust this message finds you well in the Lord. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support. As you read this update on the Kukuni family and our church community, I pray that you will approach the throne of grace, where we find the help we need in times of difficulty.
The Kukunis
The past few months have been quite adventurous for me. The Lord has kept me close through prayer and devotion to studying his word. I am grateful to the Holy Spirit for sustaining my reliance on God during this period of transition and for alleviating my anxieties about the future. I have also witnessed how he has helped Keitu remain steadfast as we have sought the Lord’s will and direction for us.
At this time, we remain uncertain about the specific path forward, but we trust that the decisions we have made, and those we are yet to make, will align with his will. We also trust that, should our decisions deviate from his plans, he will still use them for good, as he did with Joseph, and as promised throughout the Scriptures.
Since we began seeking the Lord’s guidance regarding our future, particularly as our ministry support approaches its conclusion, I have found myself contemplating how best to utilise the tools he has provided to support my family and serve the church. Pursuing an academic path, which I have been reluctant to consider since 2015, now seems a viable option. I had a brief tenure at an academic institution before transitioning to my current parttime, limited contract role. The Lord knows whether this role will become permanent, which would require significant effort on my part in academic work. Please pray for my research output and for me to remain faithful to evangelical scholarship.
We are thankful to the Lord for our children’s progress with their home schooling. Our son, Tikvah, is excelling despite not being the most diligent worker. Warona is working hard and doing well, and I enjoy our conversations, which often touch on life issues and her future as a teenager and adult. We are grateful for her mature perspective.
Church News
We have witnessed the Lord’s work at Free State Bible Church (FSBC). Despite enduring financial difficulties for several months, we have remained calm, focused and have not been panicking. The Lord has guided us to prioritise our gospel mission. Our main focus for corporate worship has been preaching through 1 Corinthians and James. You can view our sermons on our YouTube channel. Brother Tebogo has been faithfully recording these services for us, and Brother Ndu has revitalised the young adults’ ministry, which is thriving with a lot of excitement from the young adults. The women’s group continues to meet to study the Gospel of Mark and report that it is profoundly enriching. We have corporate prayer meeting every Sunday morning at 8:10 a.m., which is delightful to begin the Lord’s Day with prayer dedicated to praying for the Lord to make his presence fully realised in our corporate worship service.
The work we are doing and our commitment to it provide significant encouragement for us as Pastors Tebogo and Tsholo. We are diligently labouring and remain steadfast, and we are seeing the Lord bless the efforts of our hands. The members of FSBC are actively engaged in service, contributing to the building up of the body of Christ, for which we are profoundly grateful to the Lord.
Pray for Us
As the Lord continues to work in the lives of the Kukunis and at FSBC, we will keep you updated so that you may continue to pray for us. Please pray for:
- Guidance for the Kukunis: Pray for clarity regarding our future and for unwavering trust in the Lord’s plans for us;
- Growth of our Children: Give thanks for the spiritual and academic growth of our children.
- Brother Tebogo Podile: Pray for Brother Tebogo, who handles the video recordings at church, as he applies for licensure to practise as a medical doctor. He has completed medical school and is preparing for board exams, though the process has been challenging.
- Young adults’ ministry: Pray for the salvation of unsaved young adults and for those who are saved to consider church membership, as we engage in discussions about its significance.
Your prayers are deeply appreciated as we continue as partners in the spread of the gospel.
Grace and peace to you,
Tsholo
