Greetings in Christ,

Please find herewith the latest ministry news from Christlike Baptist Church in Mzuzu, Malawi.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

(Lamentations 3:22–23)

Welcoming New Members

We closed 2024 on a very joyful note as we welcomed seven new members to Christlike family. These members have been worshipping with us faithfully on average of one year. During that time, we saw them grow in doctrine and practice. They expressed interest in membership, took membership classes, and some who had not been baptised after believing were baptised.

In two weeks, we will welcome three more new members: a missionary couple from the US and a brother from Malawi. They are completing membership classes this week.

Transfer to a New Place of Worship

We moved to a new place of worship. Our former place had a noise environment and was small but we continued to meet there because places for worship are scarce and expensive in the city. But we found a new and better place.

Mentorship Program

I continue to train three men in the church in theology. This month, I focused on teaching them how to interpret narratives and discourse. Also, we have been going through Biblical Theology by Nick Roark and Robert Cline, and they have continued to work on sermons based on the texts from the book of John that I am preaching from. They deliver their sermons on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, they observe me preach. We are also reading A Glorious Institution: The Church in History by Stanford Murrell.

Prayer Requests

Pray for our families and the church:

  • Pray that the Lord of harvest will raise men from the church to join Pastor Brino in eldership (Matthew 9:37–38).
  • Pray that our families will gladly do God’s will as outline in the word (Matthew 6:10).
  • Pray that that we will grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
  • Pray that we will increasingly love God wholeheartedly (Deuteronomy 6:4–5).
  • Pray that we will be committed to making true disciples of the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:7).
  • Pray that we will structure the church’s ministry according to the means of grace: the word, fellowship, sacraments, and prayer (Acts 2:42).

Pray for our city and nation:

  • Pray that our nation will be turned upside down and changed through the preaching of the biblical gospel (Acts 17:6).
  • Pray that our city, Mzuzu, will not throw up obstacles to the spread of the gospel as God grants boldness to believers to proclaim the gospel (Acts 4:29).

Thank you for your prayers

Brino Kumwenda
