Church Planters
Tebogo and Lungi Molefi

Sending Church
Free State Bible Church, Bloemfontein, South Africa

Status
Pre-launch phase

Tebogo and Lungi Molefi’s mission to Kuruman is to witness lives transformed by the gospel through biblical discipleship and the planting of local churches in the townships and villages surrounding the town of Kuruman. Sending church, Free State Bible Church (FSBC), firmly believes that the Lord will use its extensive experience and knowledge gained from past church plants and involvement in biblical churches to accomplish this task for his glory.

The Target Community

The ministry will be among the local Batswana and Coloured people living in Kuruman, as well as many others from different nationalities or ethnic groups who come to the area for job opportunities in nearby mines.

Ministry Context and Historical Significance

The town of Kuruman gained fame through Dr. Robert Moffat, who established a mission station there in 1816. Dr. Moffat and his wife, Mary, spent over fifty years ministering among the local Batswana tribes.

It is the Molefi’s desire to continue the good gospel work of the Moffats, which has over the years dissipated and been replaced by the ever-growing scourge of African Traditional Religions, Prosperity Gospel movements, and many other unbiblical churches or belief systems, all promoting work-based salvation. This situation confirms the dire spiritual dryness of the town and the need to return to historic confessional Christianity, which believes and lives the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Partnership Opportunities

Here is how you can partner with Free State Bible Church in this church strengthening opportunity.

Prayer Partnership Opportunity

  • Pray for discernment as the church considers God’s timing for initiating the groundwork (when to move into the field; where to rent or purchase property; etc.).
  • Pray for the necessary financial and human resources to begin the work.

Financial Partnership Opportunity

  • The required monthly financial support must be sufficient to sustain a family of seven: church planter Tebogo, his wife Lungi, and their five children (aged 14, 12, 10, 8, and 5). This can be discussed further with potential supporters.
